North Korean state TV has reported that its leader, Kim Jong Il, has died at the age of 69.

Reports of health problems began back in 2008 when it is believed he suffered a stroke. Some also believe he may have been battling diabetes. Kim Jong Il became leader in 1994 when his father, Kim Il Song, died. Kim Jong Il's son Kim Jung Un is believed to become the successor and new leader of North Korea.
