Deputy Mayor Jeff Krauss was with me on the show this morning talking about his commitment to the Gallatin College here in Bozeman and also his appointment by Governor Schweitzer to the Board of Regents, Jeff called it a great honor. Here is the interview from this morning.

Deputy Mayor Krauss

Jeff and the other city commissioners  gave money to the college for new program development last year. Since then, college officials say their new certificate programs are close to being full and enrollment is up this semester. Officials say funding from commissioners helped get new programs up and going.

Gallatin College Program Dean Bob Hietala said:

The funding that the commission provided really helped start these new programs. It allowed us to bring on staff, buy supplies and equipment and really get them going. It also helped us do some renovation in some of the old classrooms at Bozeman High School where we're teaching these courses in the evening.

Hietala adds the money also benefited Gallatin College's dual enrollment program with Bozeman High School. Gallatin College is set to graduate its first students this spring.
