Knowing where a decent rest stop is while you're on the road is crucial. Cell service can get spotty in rural Montana so it's always best to check a map before you leave, just in case.

The great news: Montana has some of the most beautiful rest stops one could ask for! Seriously, my all time (anywhere) favorite rest stop is on i-90 between Billings and Bozeman. So close to home!

Always keep in mind, rest stops are not created equal. Services are almost certainly limited...some even have seasonal restrooms.

If you ever have concerns about a rest stop in the state of Montana you can contact the Montana Department of Transportation or the State of Montana. They welcome concerns from the public and often do safety studies on specific rest stops.

There are HUNDREDS of employees that work very hard to keep us safe on Montana's roadways. According to Montana.gov: 

MDT's Maintenance Program employs more than 750 employees who together maintain Montana's 24,500 lane miles of roadway using 4,000+ pieces of equipment located in more than 150 facilities statewide.
