It's not a pleasant email to get but I'm thankful for the voluntary recall information I received today from my grocery store regarding possible Listeria contamination.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS VOLUNTARY RECALL AFFECTS MANY PRODUCTS, ACROSS MANY BRANDS, IN MANY STORES.

I was notified because one of the possibly contaminated products was purchased by me, at a local store.

(To date, public health officials have not reported any illness associated with these products. Mann Packing is issuing this recall out of an abundance of caution.)

The recalled products have “Best If Enjoyed By” date of October 11, 2019 to November 16, 2019. THE LIST OF PRODUCTS INCLUDED IN THIS VOLUNTARY RECALL IS VERY LONG. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO TAKE A LOOK HERE...

Here is the exact text of the email I received today:

Dear Michelle,

Our records show that someone in your household recently purchased a product that is the subject of a Class I Recall.

Check the product code, lot number, size, purchase or use dates, and/or packaging to confirm whether your purchase is part of the recall:

  • Recall: Mann Packing Co. Items
  • Product: O ORGANIC VEGETABLE TRAY
  • Pack type: 4
  • Size: 18oz
  • UPC: 7989310887
  • Effective date: 11/03/2019
  • Reason: Potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes
