Montana You May Get Money Back From the Government If Senator Daines Has His Way.
This is good news for those of you who might have already paid your Obamacare individual mandate. Republican Senator Steve Daines today introduced legislation, called the Repeal and Refund Act. This new act, if passed will retroactively repeal the tax and refund everyone who has paid it.
Obamacare imposes a tax penalty for people who didn't buy insurance. In 2014 and 2015 over $5 billion dollars in fines were colected. More taxes were collected in 2016.
30,000 Montanans in 2015, paid the IRS $14,341,000 because they didn't buy insurance. Obamacare, cost an average tax of $487 per household. And 75 percent of people in Montana who paid this tax make less than $50,000 per year.
“Families that can’t afford health insurance because of Obamacare were forced to pay a costly fine that only added insult to injury,” Daines stated. “This individual mandate, this poverty tax is immoral and it’s a tax on our freedom which needs to be repealed immediately. The poverty tax must be paid back to the hardworking folks who paid them
