Info About 2-1-1 Crisis Phone Number [Listen]
Most of us are familiar with the phone numbers 9-1-1 for emergencies or 4-1-1 for information and phone numbers.
But there’s another number that you should make yourself familiar with and that’s the number 2-1-1.
Danica Jamison (above) from the Greater Gallatin United Way visited The KMMS Morning Soapbox with Tom and Shane to talk about the 2-1-1 number and how it works. (Audio of this interview at the bottom of this post)
When you dial 2-1-1 trained specialists provide crisis and suicide counseling and intervention, access to sexual assault intervention and counseling, as well as information and referrals to community resources including:
- Food Shelter and Clothing Assistance
- Counseling
- Crisis Intervention
- Energy Assistance
- Mental Healthcare
- Disability Programs
- Drug/Alcohol Programs
- Senior Services
- Support Groups
If you would like to volunteer to be a trained call specialist or donate time or money in other ways you can get more information at www.GreaterGallatinUnitedWay.org or www.Montana211.org.
