Here’s a Look at Montana’s Tyrannosaurus Rex In the Smithsonian

The display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History is quite a bit different than what you may have seen at Museum of the Rockies.

You may have heard it referred to as the Wankel Rex. It's the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever discovered. It was found in eastern Montana in 1988.

The fossil, now known as the Nation's Rex, is now on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.

The fossil was on display at Museum of the Rockies until 2014. After that, it was on display in Washington, D.C., and then Canada, and now it is at the Smithsonian where it has been rearranged and now appears to be attacking a triceratops fossil.
