Court Documents Indicate Sentinel Shooting Involved Drugs
Court documents released on Friday describe the shooting incident in detail that occurred on Sunday evening behind Missoula Sentinel High School.
Two juvenile males were walking from Southgate Mall to Sentinel High School when 17 year-old Dylan Conat approached the two victims and asked where he could find some ‘molly’, but when juvenile 1 began to walk away, he said Conat reached for a handgun in the waistband of his sweatpants.
Juvenile 1 punched Conat in the face and juvenile 2 joined in to ‘beat up’ Conat, when he shot a Glock G42 four times, striking juvenile 1 in the face and juvenile 2 in the left side of his chest.
Juvenile 2 told police that Conat asked him if wanted to purchase some drugs and he said no. When they reached Sentinel High School, the fight broke out and the two juveniles were shot. They said Conat then ran from the scene.
Documents state that juvenile 1 gained control of the handgun and threw it deep into a bush where it was later found by detectives. The serial number on the handgun led to a report that it had been stolen out of a vehicle in Lolo.
The court documents indicate that Conat told another juvenile he planned to leave Montana.
He has been charged with assault with a weapon, and is still at large.
Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1.
