Yellowstone National Park will be opening two Montana entrances into the park this week.

"As of Friday morning the roads from the north entrance and the west entrance, to Old Faithful and Canyon will open for the season," says YNP spokesman Al Nash. "We close those roads to auto travel in the fall, so it's been several months since visitors have been able to drive their own vehicles into these iconic locations."

Although the roads are open, the weather can change quickly this time of year and visitors need to be prepared.

"Honestly, when you come into Yellowstone this time of year you should be ready for anything. We've cleared the roads, but our weather this year is very unsettled, we're at high elevation and you just need to be prepared for... well, just about anything."

As part of National Parks Week, Yellowstone is adding a little incentive to get visitors into the park this weekend; fees will be waived on Saturday and Sunday.
