Ryan Kitching’s mom had been nagging him to clean his room, as moms tend to do. When the 19-year-old from Midlothian, Scotland finally relented and attacked the mess, he found 12 old lottery tickets.

Figuring they must all be losers, he thought about throwing the tickets out with the rest of the junk. But then he had a “strange feeling” that he should check the numbers, and when he did, he was nearly $85,000 richer.

Turns out, one of the lotto tickets actually hit about a month ago. Ryan said:

I am totally speechless — it was the happiest day of my life easily. Next time she nags me to tidy my room I won’t need telling twice.”

Kitching is going to use the money to send his parents on a vacation and help his little brother buy a car. But one thing he isn’t thinking about, at this point, is getting a place of his own. “I don’t want to move out just yet. I still get my tea cooked here,” he told The Mirror.

Plus, where would he be without his mom around to tell him to clean his room?
