There has been a lot of talk in the news lately about political parties wanting to suppress the vote with voter ID’s and elimination of same day registration.

The latest from Hillary Clinton who is parroting those very talking points.

I’m having a little bit of a problem understanding this. Don’t both parties want as many of their constituents to show up as possible?

Let’s review the last election between President Obama and Mitt Romney. The president got the majority of the black vote, union vote, women’s vote, Hispanic vote, senior vote, college vote, gay vote, and the youth vote.

President Obama won the election by getting 50.7 percent of the total vote. Seems like a good portion of the supposed oppressed groups got registered somehow and made it to the polls with no problem.

Let’s Make It Easier To Vote

No ID’s and no need to register in Hillary’s world. If you are 18 you would be automatically registered much like Medicare at 65. That’s just two of her plans for the future.

If it were hard for the voters of one party to register and produce an ID wouldn’t it be just as hard for the voters of the other party to do the same thing?

Is there a VIP line for white, rich Republicans I’m not aware of? Is it somehow easier for black, handicapped, and poor Republicans to register and get an ID than the members of any other parties?

It would seem that the easier you make if for one party to vote the easier it would be for the other party to vote too.

Am I missing something??

Don’t You Need An ID?

Is it possible to exist in the United States and live a normal life without an ID? You sure aren’t getting on a plane without one. You can’t open a checking account without one.

You can’t get a credit card or apply for any government program I’m aware of without one.

You won’t be employed without one. No social security payments without one. No IRS refunds without one.

In many places you can’t pay with a check without one. And if the police stop you they can and will hold you until they identify you.

And, you can’t register to vote without one. So if you have to have one to register then what’s the problem with proving your identity when you vote?

Voter Fraud

I would like to believe that the majority of citizens are honest and don’t want to vote multiple times. Voter fraud is normally done behind the scenes by voter machine malfunctions or ballots from some districts being lost or misplaced.

As long as human beings are involved in anything there is a chance for inaccuracies and corruption.

Some Final Thoughts

To me, voting is the greatest privilege any of us have. We actually have a say in how we are governed. Not too many other places have a system as free as ours.

So it should be fair to everyone and not favor one group over another. And I don’t see that the demographics of one party trump the demographics of another.

You had to show something to register so I have no problem showing the same proof when you vote.

There are 17 months till the next election. Plenty of time to work out how and where you will register to vote and get an ID if for some reason you don’t have one.

Everyone wants a free and fair election but we also what an accurate election. Voting is a privilege in America. And the winner takes all.

Don’t you want to know that the winner won fair and square? Then do what the laws in your state require you to do to cast the ballot for the person who will do the best job in your opinion.

You might not like the outcome but at least you can feel you and your candidate did your best in a fair and honest election.

Isn’t that what we all really want regardless of party affiliation? Comments below.
