Missing Rafter Found Deceased on Yellowstone River
UPDATE:
On July 13, 2018 at approximately 10:30 a.m., the missing rafter was found deceased along the river bank near the north end of Yankee Jim Canyon. Immediate family has been notified. The name of the deceased rafter has not been released.
Recovery efforts by a SAR boat crew are underway.

On Thursday, July 12 at approximately 7:40 p.m., Park County Dispatch received a report of a person floating in the river near Yankee Jim Canyon and the Carbella fishing access area, according to a press release from the Park County Sheriff’s Office.
The individual appeared to be unconscious. Deputies, Fire and SAR members responded to the area.
The search resumed this morning with a Search & Rescue boat and crew as well as searching from the air by Reach helicopter.
Additional information is that a party of three launched a raft at the Joe Brown access. The raft flipped in Yankee Jim Canyon, and the missing individual was last seen floating away.
The missing rafter is described as a white male, 6' 2", and 230 pounds. He was last seen floating away wearing a blue and black life jacket and khaki pants or shorts, the sheriff’s office said.
