Local Woman Falls 800 Feet on First Date
First dates rarely go as planned.
On Wednesday, a 23-year-old woman was on a first date to ski the Great One, a summer time chill zone found in the Northern Bridger Range, when she fell 800 vertical feet.
According to the Gallatin County Sheriffs Office, local 911 was notified of the fall around 9:30 p.m. Gallatin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue was dispatched and responded on foot and were flown in to assist the woman.
She was transported in a stretcher and was rigged up with ropes and lowered down steep rocks and rough terrain. She was transferred to LifeFlight at Fairy Lake Trailhead just before sunrise.
Sheriff Gootkin stated “She would have been in a lot worse shape without her helmet, it was pretty beat up.”
