Is This The Best Way To Address Summer Road Work Here In Montana?

Summer travel in Montana is big business; visitors and locals like to hit the highway to see and do all that Montana has to offer.  Of course, summer also means road work, which can often become a travel nightmare.

Because we often have winter 9 months of the year here, Montanans have grown accustomed to the orange cones,  "road work ahead" signs, and reduced speed limits during the summer months, but that doesn't mean it's not frustrating.

The question is, is there a better plan than the current one?

Years ago, Howard Stern, the controversial radio personality decided that he was going to run for Governor of New York.  For the most part, it was just an on-air hoax, but he did have some ideas and a couple of them gained traction among voters.

Stern brought up the point that due to traffic, maybe the best time for road work would be to do it overnight when there are fewer people on the highways. So what do you think? Is that an idea worth discussing here in Montana?  I know some of that is done across the state, but when you think about it, some positives come with it.

• Less Traffic and Potential Hazards
• Cooler Temperatures for Workers

You would think that working overnight would allow for more work to be accomplished in a shorter amount of time. Without all of the heavy traffic, it allows construction crews more freedom and mobility to do what they need to accomplish their tasks.
