54 year-old Mikol Aspinwall appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Tuesday after being extradited from Indiana on child sex charges.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jennifer Clark said the charges against Aspinwall stemmed from his use of the internet.

"Mr. Aspinwall is charged with sexual abuse of children for contact with a juvenile girl in Missoula and asking her to engage in sexual conduct," Clark said. "He pleaded not guilty to the charges and the conditions of his release were set, including no contact with children, no internet, and to be at all court appearances. Bail was set at $1,000, and he signed a waiver of extradition due to some serious medical issues. His must appear again for a preliminary hearing on December 16th."

Felony sexual abuse of children carries a minimum sentence of four years up to a maximum 100 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The Missoula County Jail roster shows Aspinwall was released on bond at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
