Growing up in the south, there were just certain foods that you had to have. One of those must-have foods was always made around the holiday season.

Of course, I'm talking about none other than pecan pie.

I mean, who doesn't love pecan pie? First off, it's pie. Second, you have all the pecans and then what I like to call the "stuff." The "stuff," or the filling, is the best part of the whole pie if you ask me. Pecan pie has been around for well over a hundred years and really started to gain popularity in the 1920s. According to eater.com, pecan pie got its roots around Texas.

While it might be a southern thing, there are certainly several places around Montana where you can get a delicious piece of pecan pie, especially around the holidays. As an added bonus, today happens to be National Pecan Pie Day, and not only did that get me thinking about one of my favorite desserts, but it also got me thinking about this...so, how do you pronounce the word "pecan"?

Where you're from makes a big difference in how you pronounce the word. For me, this one is a no-brainer. When you pronounce the word "pecan," it should sound like Puh-Con. My co-worker completely disagrees with me. She says that it should sound like Pee-Can.

So how do Montanans pronounce pecan? Do you say Puh-Con, or are you a Pee-Can type of person? Obviously, I think the way I'm saying it is the right way, however, there are those (including my above-mentioned co-worker) that think the other variation is the proper way.

So, there is really only one way to solve this little dilemma. Let's vote on it.
