Herd Of Elk Hit On Interstate [Update]

UPDATE:  10:20 AM (1/18/13)  A mid sized SUV ran into the elk, no injuries.  Road opened.

This happened just a couple of hours ago.

According to the Highway Patrol , it happened around 720 on I-15, mile marker 176-southbound by Jefferson City.

Emergency crews are on the scene, no word of human injuries, but it is reported that several elk have died.

Expect single lane traffic.
