Heavy Rain Drenches Missoula – No Flooding Reported
The National Weather Service Office in Missoula has reported that anywhere from one quarter to one inch of rain has fallen in the Missoula area over the past 24 hours.
Meteorologist Trent Smith has the numbers..
"As of 4:00 a.m. we've had 0.77 inches of precipitation, that's three-quarters of an inch of rain here at the airport," Smith said. "As predicted, the snow levels were falling throughout the night, getting down to about 6,500 feet. The observation station at Point Six, which is at 7,900 feet is reporting a temperature of only 31 degrees, so, it's probably getting some snow."
Smith said his office has received no official word of flooding, as of 4:00 a.m. on Monday.
"As for flooding, we haven't heard of any issues," he said. "We may have some minor street flooding across much of western Montana, but there has been some significant rain at a few of our observation sites, reporting an inch and a half to two inches of rain in the past 24 hours."
Smith said the current moist system will be moving out of the area by midday.
