I came to discover Reza Aslan's new book "Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth" from his interview on The Daily Show, sent to me by a friend. I picked up a copy just yesterday and have yet to read a word of it, yet. Reza's premise of the book is to look at the human Jesus and his role in the time he lived, the understanding of the use of the word "messiah" in First Century Palestine (found at 58 seconds into the video below), for example. Not the Divine Son of God. It's a mental exercise that I look forward to reading.

I was taken aback by John S. Dickerson's attack on Liberal Media, in general, and The Daily Show specifically. While I can't address how other MSM (Mainstream Media) outlets handled their interviews, all of Dickerson's accusations fall flat against The Daily Show.

At 1:48 in the video below Reza is clearly defined as an academic, not a “religion scholar,” and a self-identified Muslim.

The Daily Show is a satirical News program, spawned and expanded from Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update." Really John, you want to put The Daily Show in the category as real news outlets, comics as reporters?

So, what's on your summer reading list?
