On Saturday, Police responded to a fight on Main Street where they found Kaelan Holmes, bleeding from his face and head. Holmes told police he was fighting with a man who was standing across the street and that the man took his hatchet from him and hit him on the head with it, according to court documents.

Police interviewed the other man who was involved. He said when he saw the hatchet, he was afraid he was going to be hit on the head with it and would die on the concrete. The other man admitted to punching Holmes in the face and head because he thought Holmes was going to hurt him. After interviewing other witnesses, Holmes was arrested for assault with a weapon.

With life threatening violence involved here, should this have been the way the Zimmerman-Martin conflict played out?
