Who Should Pay for the $227 Million Budget Montana Shortfall
They are meeting at the state capital to figure out how we can pay for the $227 million budget shortfall. Will it be cut backs or something called a “Temporary” tax. A bill that would raise taxes on rental cars and lodging has been proposed.
Let the people who come to our state, pay for out shortfall. Seems like a good idea and most Montanans can agree with it. Who could opposite it? But wait a joint legislative committee heard plenty of opposition to the bill. The companies that run lodging and rental cars in Montana are very upset.
They say it isn't fair to target just their businesses for tax increases. They worry they may lose business. The joint legislative committee is still trying to find an answer.
