WATCH LIVE: Ted Cruz Filibustering On Senate Floor

Texas Senator Ted Cruz on Tuesday took to the floor of the U.S. Senate to stand against Obamacare, President Barack Obama’s signature health care law.
“I rise today in opposition to Obamacare,” Sen. Cruz said, adding that he would speak “until I am no longer able to stand.”
Although his stand against the health care law is being billed as a “talking filibuster,” it won’t actually prevent the senate from voting. That is, it may be a bold and symbolic speech (one that’s sure to infuriate his critics), but it will have zero effect on whether the senate moves forward on the House Continuing Resolution.
“This is not a filibuster,” a Senate Democratic aide said. “Since cloture has been filed, the cloture vote will occur tomorrow no matter how long Senator Cruz speaks. This is not anything tricky, just basic Senate rules.”

The Texas senator will have to stop speaking on Wednesday at around noon.
