Mountaineers: Another Way to Honor Travis Atkins in Bozeman
Why not name the school mascot in honor of Staff Sgt Travis Atkins, a Medal of Honor recipient, by honoring him and all of his fellow 10th Mountain Division mountaineer soldiers that he gave his life for? Jeff Krogstad grew up with Travis Atkins, and attended the White House ceremony with the Atkins family. He's encouraging the community to name the mascot for the new high school as the "Mountaineers." He joined us on our statewide radio show Montana Talks to discuss the idea. Click below for the audio:
New High School: Name it After War Hero?
New High School: Name it After War Hero?
On March 27th, Staff Sgt. Travis Atkins will be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President Trump at the White House. I've heard this idea from fellow veteran friends on both the Left and the Right: Hey, if Bozeman is looking for the name of their new high school, why not name it after a great war hero who gave his life for this country- and hails from Bozeman, Montana? I concur- what a great idea.
