Budget Cuts

The Montana Board of Regents wrapped up their meeting in Bozeman on Friday after dealing with several issues, once of which was the budget reduction plan proposed by University of Montana President Royce Engstrom.

Some University of Montana faculty members have lashed out at the school leadership for being too top-heavy with administrative staff, some with very high salaries.

The Montana Board of Regents is meeting in Bozeman this week, and one of the items under review is the plan set forth by the University of Montana to address budget cuts due to reduced enrollment.

University of Montana President Royce Engstrom faced nearly 300 university employees, professors and students on Tuesday afternoon with a hard message, 'we must learn to live within our means'.

The University of Montana is facing budget cuts in both academics and athletics of up to $16 million dollars and reduction of personnel due to a recent drop in enrollment.
