Update 8/26:

Minimal fire behavior on the McClusky fire over the weekend kept the fire at just over 110 acre and the blaze is now 50 percent contained.

The fire as interior fuels continue to burn. The dry, breezy conditions that have kept the fire burning are expected to decrease this week.

Original Story 8/22:

According to the U.S. Forest Service, the McClusky fire is now at 112 acres and zero percent contained.

The fire is located in the Deerlodge National Forest, just north of the Homestake Pass area of Interstate 90.

The blaze grew in size Wednesday afternoon as temperatures warmed and the humidity dropped.

The fire is burning through heavy dead and downed trees. The USFS says that standing snags pose an excessive safety risk to firefighters along and within the fire’s perimeter.
