Sending Our Sacred Cows To Slaughter

America is going though some drastic change, even more so than the upheaval of the 1960s. The very fabric of our society is under attack.

In order for a nation to be great it has to be inspirational. It must set an example of opportunity. It must also be self-correcting.

History Under Siege

Historic statues across America are covered with tarps or defaced with paint and destruction. The very sight of a Confederate Flag can mean a visit to a psychiatrist for some people.

Columbus Day has been an institution in America since 1492. So maybe Columbus missed the America we know today but a few hundred miles.

However, it is history and now a vocal minority thinks it’s an insult to honor this historic person and they want to change the name to the generic Indigenous Persons Day, or even worse, take down the statue itself. Let’s erase any history we don’t seem to like even though that history actually did happen.

Boy Scouts

I was never a Boy Scout, but I was a Cub Scout. We also have Girl Scouts and Brownies as well. I’m surprised “Brownies” is not under attack.

Boy Scouts are now going to include girls. Another sacred cow bites the dust.

The Boy Scout oath pretty well says it all:

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

• Be considerate in the outdoors, and
• Be conservation minded.

Some Final Thoughts

Living by the teachings of the Boy Scouts would seem to produce some pretty good people, but there are others with more progressive ideas. We’ve reached the point where boys and girls can no longer be called boys and girls in some California schools. They are reduced to some kind of non-descript group of cells.

Their personalities are not allowed to flourish. They are held down and forced to deny their own existence. Political correctness is a tidal wave looming on the horizon that will wash away everything we stand for.

Some cows are worth saving.
