BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — A former clerk for the Belgrade School District has been sentenced to two years with the Department of Corrections and ordered to pay restitution for embezzling nearly $49,000 over the district over a period of about 18 months.

District Judge John Brown sentenced 50-year-old Della Little on Wednesday with a recommendation that she serve time in prison. The DOC punishment could range from probation to treatment to prison.

He also sentenced Little to eight years on probation and ordered her to pay nearly $42,000 in restitution.

Little was charged in February 2012 with using a school credit card to take cash advances between May 2009 and September 2010.

Little's attorney said his client was in a dire financial situation and made very poor choices.
