Out of 65 hospitals studied in Montana, U.S. News and World Report has named Providence St. Patrick Hospital the number one healthcare facility in the state.

CEO of Providence St. Patrick Hospital Joyce Dombrouski said she is justifiably proud of that number one ranking.

“U.S. News and World Report is one of the rating agencies that exist in the healthcare field,” said Dombrouski. “We were informed two or three weeks ago that we were named the number one hospital for the state of Montana, but we had to embargo the announcement until last week.”

Dombrouski listed some of the criteria used to determine that number one ranking.

“One, of course, is our quality,” she said. “Our Community Ministry Board has a quality team that works on that for us. Another factor is our Magnet designation for our nursing excellence designation that we’ve received for a second time, and our patient satisfaction scores are also a major factor in their methodology, so when you’re working with a quality staff and patients are rating us high then it results in this honor, but we’re not working for awards, we’re just providing the best healthcare possible every day.”

Dombrouski said the effort in excellence continues with a multi-million dollar building project that will begin within the next few weeks.

“Providence invested into Montana and a new building will be constructed at the 600 West Broadway location,” she said. “We’ve spent that last 90 days with our value strength teams talking about work-flow and design and where patients need to be cared for and how we can create an ambulatory care delivery model in this new building. We’re going to have a ceremonial groundbreaking in September, and the traditional groundbreaking will happen the first part of November.”

Providence Montana has more than 40 clinics, two hospitals and over 2,400 caregivers providing serves that began more than 146 years ago.
