Pregnant Female Assault Victim Recovered Safe from Woods
The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Response Team was called out at about noon on Saturday to an area on Highway 93 North near mile marker 14 to respond to what was termed a partner or family member assault.
Reportedly, an unidentified man had allegedly assaulted and possibly also strangled a pregnant woman and then dragged her into a forested area.
The Sheriff’s Office was been joined by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Police and has also received help from Two Bear Air out of Whitefish to assist in the search.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Brenda Bassett said that the victim in the assault has been recovered as was being offered medical attention at about 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
Bassett said the incident and the search for the suspect is now in the hands of Tribal Police, with continuing assistance being offered by the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office.
