The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office will be featured on A&E’s Live PD. For eight to nine weeks, Live PD will have a film crew ride along with at least two deputies on patrol.

Undersheriff Rich Maricelli says they will document some of what the deputies encounter while on shift.

“They have nine law enforcement agencies across the country that are operating live,” Maricelli said. "They will say something along the lines of, oh it looks like there is a pursuit that is taking place in Missoula, Montana." Then they go and follow that story for a period of time. They will head over to those different agencies and show the officers that are working in pretty much a live setting.”

According to Maricelli, exposure from the show could benefit the sheriff’s office in the future.

“I am kind of looking at it from a marketing standpoint,” Maricelli said. “Hopefully the national exposure of our community and the professionalism of our office will help recruit some additional people. We have such a difficult time, not just our office but law enforcement in general, getting large numbers of recruits when we have openings. That is how I am personally looking at it.”

Maricelli says this is an amazing opportunity for the sheriff’s office to showcase some of the great work being done by their deputies to protect and serve our community.

“Everybody that hears about it seems like they are excited and there is certainly a buzz around the office,” Maricelli said. “It is a question of picking the right personalities to do this and to be involved in it. We are listening to different people that have shown some interest in it and we will go from there.”

The 4th season of Live PD will begin September 20, 2019.  The live show will air on Friday and Saturday nights, from 5 pm to 7 pm.
