No Pot For You, In Billings

The Montana health department will not give a new medical marijuana dispensary a license in Billings. Why? The city just passed a ordinance saying if you have a business in Billings you must obey federal law. While pot is legal for medical use in our state, the federal law doesn't allow it.

According to the federal government, pot is still against the law. So, if you want a license to sell medical marijuana you can only get a licence and sell outside the city. The owners of two Billings dispensaries are now suing the City of Billings over the ordinance. The dispensaries think they should be grandfathered in at their Billings locations. The lawsuit is still pending.
