When the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Rankings were released this week, the Montana State Bobcats found themselves ranked seventh out of 52 teams in the West.

The Western Division is one of the toughest divisions in the ACHA, and includes hockey powerhouses such as the University of Denver, University of Oregon, University of Texas, and the University of Washington.

Seventh is the highest that the Bobcats have ever been ranked as members of the ACHA. In addition, the Bobcats are the number one ranked team in Montana over the University of Providence in Great Falls (Ranked 14th) and Montana Tech University (Unranked).

University of Mary (Bismark, North Dakota), the University of Northern Colorado and Boise State University are in the top 3 spots nationally.

Luke Bing is the team’s captain and has been around the program for the past three years, and he’s happy about the steps the team has taken.

“It feels great to be ranked in the top ten. We have worked so hard for three years developing this program to try and get it to this level. It's nice to see the work paying off.”

Over the weekend, the Bobcats took on the University of Providence in Great Falls Argos. Montana State would throttle the Argos 6-2.
Montana State’s next home games are December 7th  and 8th against the University of Mary. At 22-1, Mary is regarded as the top team in the Nation and has won 7th straight. For more info check out msuhockey.com.
