It's never good news when the city you live in is called one of the most miserable in America.
The website travado.net just released a list of the top 50 most miserable cities in the United States, and one city in Montana was included on the list. Great Falls, Montana was named the 39th most miserable city in America.
According to Travado, there are a few factors that make Great Falls one of America's most miserable cities.
Why is Great Falls, Montana one of America's Most Miserable Cities?
- 14.5% live below the poverty level
- The crime rate is 42% higher than the national average
- Violent crime is 25% higher than the national average
Personally, I don't think Great Falls should be included on the list. I've been to a lot of different cities, and Greats Falls is far from the worst. Some Montanans aren't too impressed by the city though. It has been referred to as "Mediocre Falls" in the past.
Here's what Travado.com had to say about Great Falls;
Great Falls may not actually be so bad considering the median household income is just $44,725 and just 14.5% live below the poverty level. The national average poverty rate is 15.1% so the city isn't doing too badly.
Being named one of the most miserable cities in America isn't the best news for Great Falls. but at least the city wasn't in the top 10. I'm just trying to find the silver lining. Chances are that the person who wrote the article has never actually been to Great Falls.
Gary, Indiana was named the most miserable city in America.
