Missoula Police Investigate Possible Gun Shot in South Hills
At around 7:30 a.m. this morning, September 23 Missoula Police responded to a call by an officer that reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot.
"We received information that there had been a noise, that sounded like a gunshot, in the South Hills, specifically in the area between Mainview and Hillview," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "Officers responded to the area, but were unable to pin-point where the sound came from."
Police then went door-to-door in the area.
"They knocked on doors to find out if there had been a problem, or if the source of the noise could be identified,"Welsh said. "They asked if anyone else had heard the sound, and about four other people had heard it."
A sweep investigation of the area turned up no further information on where exactly the sound came from or whether or not the blast had come from a gun.
