The Speaker of the Montana House of Representatives is calling on his fellow lawmakers to support a special session of the legislature in order to deal with the influx of illegal aliens in the state.

We caught up with MT Speaker of the House Matt Regier (R-Kalispell) during our statewide show Tuesday morning. He says an official poll will be going out to state legislators to see if they will support the call for a special session.

If they had a special session, what could be done so that Montana can deal with illegal aliens being secretly transported into the state?

Aaron Flint: "Because the Biden administration will try to fight local law enforcement in the state from deporting any of these illegal aliens, in any way whatsoever. But Texas passed a law, and that so far has withheld federal court scrutiny. So maybe Montana can pass the same law, right?

Speaker Regier: Yeah, exactly. Texas has kind of led the way, but then Iowa jumped on board. I like Iowa's law. It's only seven pages long. It's Iowa Senate Bill 2340, and it's great. It makes it a state crime to be in Iowa if you're in the country illegally. And I think at a minimum that is what Montana needs to do. That opens up a lot of doors. Right now our local law enforcement, our  state law enforcement doesn't have any recourse. And we need- we're the legislative branch, and we need to give them that.
