Stacker made a list of States With The Most Conservatives, and it's interesting to see where Montana is ranked. According to Stacker, Montana is tied at 16th.

Almost 40% of the population of Montan consider themselves conservative, and another 38% consider themselves moderate. That's a good chunk of folks who are in the middle of all politics are right-leaning.

Montana has voted for the Republican candidate in 13 of the last 15 presidential elections. That's a solid ratio.

So Montana is decently conservative. Yes and no. The more rural areas of Montana are predominately Republican, but when you get into the larger cities, the statistics are mixed. That means a good mix of both progressive and conservative voters.

Elections in recent years have become closer due to new folks moving in and the younger generations tired of the lack of change.
