We thought that was the wildest thing allowed to do in Montana, but we were wrong.

Euthanasia is defined as assisted suicide. This act is usually reserved for animals with cancer or are in pain from old age.

Years ago, Dr. Jack Kevorkian was a physician who supported patient's rights to die and ended up going to jail for this cause.

It's a massively debated subject.  You might be surprised to learn euthanasia is legal in several states, including Montana.

If you are at death's door and don't want to be in pain, you can ask to help die.

This law isn't without controversy. Since 2009, Montana's state legislators have pushed several bills to make this illegal, but to zero results.

Assisted suicide can seem wrong in many people's eyes, but some folks want to pass away with dignity and not suffer. It's a messy subject that has pros and cons on both sides.

I have lived in Montana most of my life, and it's wild the things you can learn about where you live daily.
