Another round of heavy snow, up to a foot in some areas, is headed to southwest Montana this weekend. It's a welcome dump for the higher elevations, although some valleys could see several inches of fresh snow too.

We've written at length about the need for more snow in Montana's higher elevations. Most places are well below their average snow pack levels for the season. Southwest Montana has caught up faster than other areas of the state, but it's still in need of good snow storms such as this one.

The snow that Montana gets in the coming several weeks will determine how our fire season goes in 2024. The more snow we get now, the better off we'll be later this year. With some Montana basins still in precariously low levels of water equivalent, every weather advisory for snow is welcome news.

sexual orientation or denial of family medical leave."
