High Speed Chase Reaches 110 mph in Gallatin Gateway
The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office arrested a man just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, near Gallatin Gateway for reckless driving and driving under the influence after he refused to stop his vehicle for deputies.
David Antionio Diaz Padilla was also charged with eluding peace officers after the vehicle he was driving reportedly reached speeds of 110 mph on Gallatin Road. At one point, the trailing deputy said Padilla at one point went off the road and nearly rolled his vehicle. He eventually came to a stop near the intersection of Gallatin Road and Cottonwood Road.
Court documents reveal that Padilla did not speak English and requested a Spanish-speaking officer to meet him at the Gallatin County Law & Justice Center where he was being transported. Once there, he was given a field sobriety test which indicated he was under the influence of alcohol. Padilla also took a Portable Breath Test and showed a positive for alcohol reading of .207.
He is being held on a bond of $2,005.
