Group Protests AG Jeff Sessions’ Visit to Bozeman
Thursday, a group of protesters gathered along N. 7th Ave in Bozeman, near The Best Western Plus GranTree Inn, where U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions addressed the Montana Police Protective Association.
Many people carrying signs were there to oppose immigration policies put forth by the Trump Administration.
The protesters made it clear that they were not there to criticize members of law enforcement agencies gathered at the event, but rather the attorney general himself.
"I think it's torture to take young children away from their parents, I can't imagine how long term the effects are going to be," says Margaret Elson of Bozeman (pictured above).
Another member of the group echoed concerns about the current immigration practices:
"Who takes small children away from their parents? We have to speak up, someone has to speak up," says Susan Rawn of Bozeman (pictured above).
The protests were peaceful and did not take place on hotel property.
Many of the protesters were met by the honking of horns by mid-afternoon drivers, but there were the occasional displays of disapproval by people driving by.
AG Jeff Sessions' motorcade of SUVs arrived at the event location during the two o'clock hour. The event was not open to the public, only members of the MPPA, and other local officials were invited.
