With Thanksgiving a little more than a week a way, many businesses will be closed for the Holiday here in Bozeman and across Montana.

For a partial list of the stores that will be closed locally and around the state, click here.

You can add the Gallatin Valley Mall to that list.  The Mall, which has been closed on Thanksgiving for the last few years, will continue that tradition this year as well.  The reason?  The Gallatin Valley Mall wants families to be able to get together and enjoy the Holiday.

I for one, love this and so do most Montanans.

When we asked if businesses should be closed for the Holiday, everyone that responded to the question said "Yes".  In a press release from The Gallatin Valley Mall they cited the reason being they've "received overwhelming support from retailers and customers"

Over the last decade or so, the whole "Black Friday experience" has kicked off earlier and earlier.  What used to start early on Friday morning, turned into stores opening at midnight, beforelong many stores started opening early into Thanksgiving evening.

The Mall will close Wednesday evening and will re-open Friday.  While all the stores will be open by 8 am and will go to 7 pm, a handful of stores will be open before that.

Stores opening at 6 am on Black Friday according to the Mall website, include:

  • Bath and Body Works
  • Buckle
  • Journeys
  • Tradehome Shoes

The Mall will have different Holiday promotions going through the season, so be sure to check out their website often. Once again, the Gallatin Valley Mall will be closed this Thanksgiving and will re-open the following day.
