If you have lived here in Montana for more than 5 minutes, you would know that making appointments for all sorts of things takes time. Sometimes you will be waiting a couple of weeks or even months for ordinary things that never used to take so long.

Here are 5 things you should consider making appointments for NOW, if you hope to have them done within the next few weeks.

Hair cut/color. Luckily I have never dyed my hair so I will never understand the struggle of "roots showing," BUT I do have lots of friends who are constantly changing their hair color and style, and they almost always seem to be waiting WEEKS to get in and get it done. So take a second and look in the mirror—is it time you made that appointment?

Personalized baked goods. I have a friend whose significant other is dairy-free and gluten-free and has a birthday coming up. Well, my friend dropped the ball and tried to special order his wife a cake that she requested and was told "oh, yeah that is at least a week out." So don't be like my friend and drop the ball; order the specialty cake now.

Winter tires. With the temperatures dropping, and fall finally in full swing, winter is right around the corner. The last thing you want to do is wait until the snow is actually falling to get your snow tires put on. You can certainly wait, but don't be annoyed when you are waiting an extra month to get snow tires because you procrastinated.

Dinner reservations. Look at your calendar; whose important birthday is coming up? Or maybe your anniversary is approaching. The last thing you want to do is wait too long to make the dinner or spa reservation. I highly suggest adding a massage to the list.

Winter gear. Now is the time to make sure the winter jackets fit, or the snow pants are not too tight, and most likely if you have kiddos, they will need new winter boots. As a parent, I know waiting last minute totally sucks, and all of a sudden you are trying to order online because you waited too long.
