On July 7, 2008, oil prices hit an all time high of $147 per barrel and the national average for a gallon of gas was $4.11. There was panic in the streets, everyone started looking at hybrid cars, open the strategic reserves we all screamed, "It's the end of life as we know it."

Just five short months later,  on December 31, 2008 oil prices had plummeted to a new low of $37 per barrel and a gallon of unleaded regular gas was at a five year low of $1.61.

So please forgive me if I'm not quite ready to give up my 19 miles to the gallon land yacht yet.
