49ers-Raiders Preseason Game Marred By Shootings, Leaving Two Wounded
Two fans were shot in a Candlestick Park parking lot right after the 49ers beat the Raiders 17-3 in a preseason game on Saturday. One of the men was seriously wounded. A suspect has been arrested in the attack.
The incident should remind some fans of the San Francisco Giants fan who was beaten up by two Dodgers’ fans back in March. And, separately, during Saturday’s football game, a 26-year-old man was assaulted and knocked unconscious in a bathroom.
As rivalries between cities heat up, it’s important to remember to let the teams settle their feuds on the field and not create a negative image among the die-hard fans. People’s safety is on the line, after all.
