$100,000 Warrant For Arrest of Chad Earl Williams – After Cutting Off GPS Device And Escaping Again
Chad Earl Williams is on the loose...again.
The 39 year-old Williams, who was the subject of a manhunt and standoff in Bozeman earlier in the summer and was captured by Gallatin County authorities after breaking probation in Missoula, has eluded his jailers yet again.
Missoula County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Brenda Bassett said that Williams escaped by removing his GPS device.
"On the 21st, Williams cut off the GPS monitoring device on his ankle," Bassett said. "There is now a $100,000 warrant for his arrest. If you remember back in June, they had a standoff with this same guy in Gallatin County, and he was brought back to Missoula County and was under the supervision of Missoula Probation and Parole. Right now, we've sent out his description and we're hoping that he can be taken into custody without incident."
Williams was convicted of attempted deliberate homicide in 1996 and sentenced to 50 years in the Montana State Prison with 25 years suspended after he shot a man twice in the abdomen during a robbery.
Bassett said anyone who may spot Williams is encouraged not to approach him, as he is considered dangerous and desperate to flee from law enforcement. The public is asked to call 9-1-1 or Missoula Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
