Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service & Crematory & Heritage Christian School will be hosting the Eyes of Freedom traveling memorial from May 29 through June 1.  This traveling memorial, delivered by R+L Carriers, depicts the fallen of Lima Company 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines (L3/25), one of the hardest hit units in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

These 23 life-size portraits have become a powerful traveling military tribute honoring all those who have answered the call to service, in every branch of our armed forces. These Eyes reflect the hundreds of thousands of men and women that have sacrificed defending our Freedoms.

One of the fallen soldiers depicted in the memorial is Marine Lance Cpl. Nicholas B. Bloem, a 2003 graduate of Belgrade High School.  When Dokken-Nelson scheduled this memorial, they were not aware of this amazing connection but discovered it when sharing the opportunity at an American Legion Memorial Day parade meeting—his mom was in attendance.

“We are so thankful for your support of the Fallen and honoring their memory—and their families—from your heart,” said Debbie Bloem.  “Thank you for bringing this to Bozeman.  I am still overwhelmed!”  Debbie is the coordinator of the Gold Star family events and ceremony that take place Memorial Day weekend—honoring families whose loved one died while serving in the armed forces.
