You would think the more amazing something is the more newsworthy it would be. But sometimes the fact happens and it’s not a big deal until much later. Here are a few amazing facts that will make you think… Hummmm!

Those Crazy Google Kids

Two college students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, started Google in their California dorm room on September 4, 1998. Today the stock is selling for about $1,100 a share and both are multi-billionaires.

The amazing fact about Google and it’s two fledgling founders is they tried to sell Google in 1999 to Excite for under $1million dollars — and were turned down. Excite is still around but nowhere near Google’s Number One Ranking or stock price. I guess things work out as they are supposed to. I guess a one year track record was not enough for Excite.

I Scream, You Scream We All Scream for Ice Cream

I am an ice cream lover. Pecan Carmel is my weakness. One of the downsides of eating ice cream, other than the expanding waistline, is the “ice cream headache.” That painful feeling in your frontal lobe that makes you close your eyes and develop a cold sweat. As you might guess, there is a technical name for the ice cream headache that you can now shout out. “I’m having a sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia and it hurts!!!”

It’s The Official Bird, Tree, Flower, Etc.

States all have a whole list of official things. Animals and plants are adopted by states as their official, and often protected, species. However there is one city that has followed their states lead in a rather unusual way. Even for California. The city of Redondo Beach, CA has adopted an official bird — The Goodyear Blimp. I guess they saved a bundle on, “Don’t Feed The Bird Signs.”

Do You Want Fries With That

The late Dave Thomas is famous for founding the Wendy’s fast food chain. What you might not know is Dave is a high school dropout. In 1993, at the age of 61, Dave was awarded his GED high school diploma. That is amazing enough but as Paul Harvey would say here is the rest of the story. Dave’s classmates voted him “Most Likely to Succeed.”

Who’s On That Bill?

Most of us know which president’s portraits are on the bills we commonly carry. But who’s on those bills most of us will never get the chance to see? Due to drug trafficking the largest bill allowed in general circulation is the $100 bill with good ole Ben Franklin’s smiling face adorning the front.

Other bills are used between banks for transfers that require legal tender. William McKinley is on the $500, Grover Cleveland of the $1,000 bill and James Madison gets the nod for the $5,000 bill.

Some Final Thoughts

Life has a funny way of balancing things out. I think we can all go back in time and wish we’d made some smarter decisions or changed our direction. I wonder how the Google kids would have felt sitting on their paltry million bucks watching Excite executives becoming billionaires. What are some amazing life changing facts in your life?
