At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, a Montana Highway Patrol trooper responded to a report of a wrong-way driver on I-90 between Belgrade and Bozeman.

The reporting party told dispatch that a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.

The trooper was able to quickly set up a slow-moving roadblock westbound between Belgrade and Bozeman.

After quickly identifying the vehicle, the trooper was able to pull the driver over. While speaking with the driver, the trooper smelled a "strong" odor of alcohol and the 62-year-old woman also appeared to have "bloodshot/glossy eyes," according to a report.

The driver, later identified as a 62-year-old woman from Calgary, Alberta, provided a breath sample of .122.

The woman admitted to drinking 6 glasses of wine before and after attending a concert in the area.

The driver, apparently surprised that she was traveling in the wrong direction, thanked the trooper for pulling her over before she hurt herself or another person. She was transported to the Gallatin County Detention Center and charged with a DUI.
