The holiday season means a whole lot of things to a whole lot of people. There is something very special about getting together with family and friends and enjoying each other's company. For many Montanans, the festivities include tasty treats that are often a family tradition.

It seems that most of us have that one thing that we love to indulge in during the holidays. Some sort of delicious culinary creation that shouts "it's Christmas time".

Holidays are a chance for generations of family to get together and not only spend quality time together, but pass down traditions that mean so much more than just something to eat around the holidays.

My mom would always make a cookies called "Peanut Butter Blossoms".  They're little peanut butter cookies that have a Hershey's Kiss in the middle and for me, they are a must-have during the holidays. I make them now, and even though I follow my mom's recipe, for whatever reason, they never seem to be as good as the ones she made.

When it comes to sweet treats for the holidays, what are Montanans' favorites? Here are some of the most popular.

 Fudge

Christmas fudge is certainly something to look forward to during the holiday season and a whole lot of Montanans say it's their favorite sweet treat. There are many different flavors that you can create, however, my personal favorite has always been peanut butter.

Tom and Jerry

For many Montanans, this holiday drink tops the list and I'll be honest, while I've heard of it, I had no idea what it was. After a little google search, I learned that it's an adult holiday beverage much like egg nog, but with a really nice kick. On a cold Montana winter night, a little warmth and sugar might be just what you need.

Christmas Cookies

I mean, how can Santa's favorite treat not make the list, right? From sugar to frosted to gingerbread and more, Montanans love their cookies during the holiday season. It seems that everyone has a 'Christmas classic' that brings back childhood memories.

Divinity

This old-fashioned favorite is still popular among Montanans. Plus, it only requires a few ingredients, which makes it a cost-effective treat that is perfect for the holidays. When I think of divinity, I think of my Grandma or a church bake sale. It just tastes like the good old days.

Here are some other sweet treats that Montanans love:

  • Peanut Brittle
  • Peppermint Bark
  • Pies
  • Caramel Corn
  • Puppy Chow
