This year will be a bit different for the folks of Bozeman and really anyone inside of Bozeman City Limits. For those of you who have been here for years, this event will be nice to have back, but some are not so happy about the new ban that is in place.

City Officials have decided that this July 4th, there will NOT be fireworks allowed within city limits. But there will be a fireworks show put on so you can still continue the annual "watching the fireworks" outing with the family.

The Bozeman Fire Department posted some important information to keep in mind when July 4th rolls around.

If you look around the Gallatin Valley, you will see lots of trees, bushes, and grass, it's part of what makes Montana beautiful. The issue is, all of these natural beauty filters can also turn into a huge ball of fire.

This fireworks ban isn't meant to tick anyone off, it has simply been put in place to protect our precious lands that we cherish day in and day out.

If you can recall just a couple of summers ago, we dealt with horrific fires burning thousands of acres of land, and you can still see the burnt trees today as you drive through the state. The hope is to not have to have this again.

If we can prevent Montana from losing land, wildlife from losing their natural stomping grounds, and Montanans from losing homes, ranches, and cattle, then a firework ban is what needed to happen.

Remember, be a problem solver, not a problem maker.
